Howdy y’all!

I’m Anna. I was born just a few miles from here in North Austin, making me one of the rare native Austinites. Even though I grew up north of the river I spent countless hours at my grandmother’s home near Homedale Circle in Barton Hills, and this neighborhood has always felt like home. 

I graduated from UT with a degree in history, but soon followed a different calling into music. As a classically trained pianist, violinist, and guitarist, I taught at Austin School of Music and later moved to Nashville to pursue performing. It was there, somewhat unexpectedly, that dogs changed the course of my life.

To make ends meet, I began working at Emmylou Harris’ dog rescue, Bonaparte’s Retreat, alongside dog walking and pet sitting for a local business. What started as a side job quickly became a passion. I spent five years at the rescue, eventually becoming the lead handler, and discovered that working with animals brought me more joy than touring ever had!

After returning to Austin in 2019, I continued working in community-focused roles while never giving up pet care. Today, I live in Barton Hills with my Mini Aussie rescue, Ellie, and have been an active part of the neighborhood’s dog community ever since. After years of caring for and training dogs, countless referrals from neighbors, and earning my Pet CPR & First Aid certification, I made it official: I quit my day job and started my own business as Barton Hills Dog Girl.

I offer attentive, reliable, and loving care rooted in experience, intuition, and genuine connection. I can’t wait to meet you and give your pups the adventure, safety, and care they deserve! I’m fully bonded and insured, and certified in Pet CPR & First Aid, so you can feel confident your pet is in safe, capable hands.
